DataWind-Quad Electronics rift delays delivery of Aakash tablet

Controversies have continued to chase DataWind. The Canadian company, which was spearheading the original Aakash tablet project, has been accused by its erstwhile assembly partner Quad Electronics Solutions Pvt. Ltd of not clearing dues. DataWind, on the other hand, has accused Quad Electronics of infringing intellectual property rights and trying to sell the Aakash tablet directly to IIT-Rajasthan.
DataWind further claims that Quad Electronics signed an MoU with IIT-Rajasthan and unsuccessfully tried to develop a UbiSlate 7+ competitor. The two partners have already parted their ways and claim to have served legal notices to each other. However, thousands of people who booked the device are suffering because of the rift between the two companies. It may be recalled that DataWind had opened booking for the UbiSlate 7+, upgraded version of the original Aakash or UbiSlate 7 last year, but has not yet started shipping. A lot of people had paid in advance for the device.

“We will provide an update on the number of pre-bookings, units delivered and schedule to clear the backlog at our launch event, planned for the third week of this month,” DataWind CEO Suneet Singh Tuli told Live Mint via e-mail. Tuli had previously revealed that DataWind had received three million bookings for Ubislate 7+ and was likely to launch the device in a few weeks.

Back to back delays have already dented the popularity of the Aakash tablet, which is also touted as the world's cheapest tablet. The Indian government wants to use the Aakash tablet for bridging the digital divide in the country; however the device is yet to see the light of day. Union minister Kapil Sibal recently said the Aakash 2 tablet will launch in May with improved specifications.

sony Ericsson Xperia SOLA, Classic touch..!

The latest Android smartphone from Sony, the Xperia sola, takes the touch out of the touch screen – although we’re not yet sure how.
One of the device’s key features is “floating touch” navigation, which enables web browsing without touching the screen.
“Sony’s unique floating touch lets consumers navigate the web by hovering their finger above the screen so it acts like a moving curser, without actually having to touch the screen,” Sony claims, adding that the technology will evolve through “software updates and engagement with developers.”
Other than that, the device is a fairly standard Android 2.3 handset (upgradeable to Android 4.0 during summer 2012), with a 3.7” Reality Display, a 1 GHz dual-core CPU, NFC and Xperia SmartTags support, as well as “3D surround sound.

HTC working on a 3D version of the Flyer?

More tablets from HTC ahead!
We just heard that the Taiwanese company is working on a 3D version of its Flyer slate and we even got a photo of a part of the device to prove it. What you are seeing here should be the topmost part of the upcoming stereoscopic slate and as you can see, it features two cameras rather than one.
Now leaks based on just a piece of hardware should definitely be filled under uncertain, but seeing the interest that the EVO 3D generate, it would be strange if HTC didn’t keep pushing on the stereoscopic front.
Plus, the photo doesn’t look photoshopped so if someone is trying to trick us then they actually went through the trouble of creating the part for real. And I can’t see anyone doing that for an HTC device.
The only bit we find a little strange is the position of the two cameras.

We believe shooting on tablets feels more natural in landscape  and it seems the 3D Flyer will make you use the camera in portrait mode.
Anyway, let’s not throw any stones before we see an official announcement
Hopefully it won’t take too long to come.

Cheap Android Phones : Huawei Ideos - upcoming affordable Android smartphone with Froyo

Search Amazon.com MP3 Downloads for

Huawei hasn’t exactly impressed with their previous two Android phones but this one looks like a disruption for sure – Ideos - dubbed "the world’s first affordable smartphone" will be priced at less than Rs 10,000 ($100-$200) and comes loaded with Android 2.2. It should be a very interesting phone to watch out for when it launches in India, as most of the Androids (except for HTC Desire) here are running Android 2.1 or lower. Only 5% of Android devices presently have Froyo according to Google. Support for Android 2.2 Froyo means Wi-Fi and USB tethering, voice dialing, voice navigation, and the ability to run applications off the SD card, with speed enhancements all wrapped up in the latest stock UI - the Ideos should be able to hold its own against the UI customisations made by other brands with stock Android 2.2 running on a QVGA screen.
Ideos has a smaller 2.8 inch QVGA (240 x 320 pixel) screen, which now seems to be the only differentiating factor that seperates high-end and low-end Android phones. Other specs of note: 528 MHz processor, a 3-megapixel camera, support for 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.0,and 32GB MicroSD cards. Engadget's recent hands-on with the phone notes generally improved responsiveness and touch sensitivity, so we have our hopes up. If you were holding out for an affordable Android phone, you might want to wait for this. From the video it seems like Ideos has been made in close collaboration with Google.
