I&B Ministry joins Facebook to create awareness about digitalisation

The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has now decided to use the power of social media to address the issues related to the digitalisation. The ministry has created a Facebook account, through which it also aims to have more direct communication with the key stakeholders. The Facebook account is likely to help the ministry create more awareness among public about its policies and taking up a wide range of public concerns.

The ministry's Facebook  account also features answers to some of the frequently asked queries and also provides users direct links to other organisations associated with digitisation. The government officials hope that the ministry will now efficiently deal with stakeholders such as multi-system operators and cable operators as well as provide a source of information for individuals.
It's learnt that the ministry plans to complete the digitisation of Cable sector by December 31, 2014. In the first phase of the plan, the ministry will digitise services in the four metropolitan cities of Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai and Kolkata by June 30 this year.

Android version of INSTAGRAM announced.

Android users, the time has almost come. Instagram, the popular photo-filtering and sharing app, is on its way to Google’s mobile operating system.

Co-founder Kevin Systrom announced at SXSW Sunday that the long-awaited Android version of Instagram is nearly here. He teased the version on stage, but didn’t provide a demo. The Android version is currently being tested in private beta and will be released “very soon.”

“In some ways, it’s better than our iOS app. It’s crazy,” Systrom said. In a Q&A following his presentation, Systrom said the app is fast, works great on large screens and can share photos to Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr and other networks.

HTC working on a 3D version of the Flyer?

More tablets from HTC ahead!
We just heard that the Taiwanese company is working on a 3D version of its Flyer slate and we even got a photo of a part of the device to prove it. What you are seeing here should be the topmost part of the upcoming stereoscopic slate and as you can see, it features two cameras rather than one.
Now leaks based on just a piece of hardware should definitely be filled under uncertain, but seeing the interest that the EVO 3D generate, it would be strange if HTC didn’t keep pushing on the stereoscopic front.
Plus, the photo doesn’t look photoshopped so if someone is trying to trick us then they actually went through the trouble of creating the part for real. And I can’t see anyone doing that for an HTC device.
The only bit we find a little strange is the position of the two cameras.

We believe shooting on tablets feels more natural in landscape  and it seems the 3D Flyer will make you use the camera in portrait mode.
Anyway, let’s not throw any stones before we see an official announcement
Hopefully it won’t take too long to come.

Introducing Nokia Oro

GLOBAL – In selected markets, we’re launching a new smartphone today – the Nokia Oro. It’s a premium brand product that incorporates 18-carat gold plating, a sapphire crystal and leather from one of Scotland’s finest Caledonian herds.

Inside, it reaches the same high grade as Nokia’s other recent smartphones. It’s Symbian-based, with the latest Symbian Anna update. There’s pentaband radio connectivity, up-to HSDPA 3G and WiFi. There’s a 3.5-inch AMOLED display, an 8-megapixel camera with 720p video recording and all the rest. Functionally, it’s not so different from other recent smartphones from Nokia. But that’s quite a rarity in the “premium phone” business. Normally, you’d have to choose between something that looked posh or offered the latest specs: Nokia Oro offers both.

But clearly, someone who chooses the Nokia Oro won’t be making a hard spec vs. price comparison. They’ll be more concerned about the build quality and materials.
The Nokia Oro is a device that’s clearly intended for someone who doesn’t want their mobile device to look the same as other people’s. The main markets for this sort of device are the Middle East and Russia, where they have been best-sellers for some time. Nokia’s General Manager for Russia, Gabriel Speratti, told us that, “premium products like Nokia Oro have always been best sellers in Russia. We have a large number of users who are looking for products with a build quality and superior materials that attest to their success and social standing. In some areas, possession of such premium products is the passport to being taken seriously.”

Materials Designer Robert Lihou told ::Tecnosapien::
“Our aim was to use the best materials for the purpose. It’s coated with 18-carat gold which has been made scratch-resistant. The leather is from premium Scottish stock. That’s a real sapphire crystal in the home key, which makes it eight times sturdier than glass.”
Nokia Oro will start selling in selected countries across the Europe, Eastern Europe, China and the Middle East in Q3 2011. Before local taxes and operator subsidies (neither of which you’re likely to be too concerned about if you’re a customer for this device), it will cost upwards of 40k.

Social network Facebook will integrate Skype video to instant messaging
The social networking site already shares some some instant messaging tools with Skype, and will now look to include video chat as well.
No definite time table was set for the roll out of the service, but in a company blog post, Facebook said that it would be available to "everyone over the next few weeks".

The service will only connect two users at a time, unlike Google's Hangouts service. Google launched its own social networking site, Google + last week.
